Planters Mr. Peanut With Royal Roaster
*NO SHIPPING - PICKUP OR THIRD PARTY TRANSPORT ONLY* One of the finest Planters Mr. Peanut display roasters ever offered at auction features an articulated paper mache Mr. Peanut standing behind a Royal No. 1 roaster. The small No. 1 roaster serial No. 874 has a polished copper jacketed drum and fancy nickel plated cast iron frame. All parts seem to be present externally and internally with the exception of the burner rack. The roaster measures 32" long, 32" tall, 16" deep. The articulated paper mache Mr. Peanut figure stands behind the roaster and is made to look like he is cranking the roaster which is actually powered by a hidden electric motor. The figure is in VG condition complete with monocle and cane. It is jointed at the hips and shoulders so the figure moves to look like he is cranking the roaster with his cane. Mr. Peanut is in VG overall condition with an older but professional touch up or restoration. The figure stands 46" tall. Next to the roaster is a painted tin scuttle with the Royal logo on the side and holds several small burlap bags with Planters Peanut graphics. Everything is mounted to a stained and painted wood base that measures 51.5" wide, 28.5" deep, 8" tall. The front of the base displays a hand painted Royal logo. The base has some wear to the finish at the corners. At this writing this is the only known example of this type of Planters display and has been in a private collection for over 40 years.
