19th Century Sri Lankan Kastane
11.5" blade. 20.75" overall with scabbard. Single edge curved blade with straight point. Hilt appears to be silver with gold plating, and is elaborately chiseled into the form of a simha (lion) with cloudy light blue gemstone or colored glass eyes. Hilt also is chiseled with floral designs and four other grotesque creatures including one on knuckle guard that has a ruby or red colored glass eye. The other eye appears to be missing. Includes a silver mounted scabbard that is pressed with floral scroll and borderwork designs on both sides.
This lot is located in Cincinnati.
Condition
About good condition. Blade shows scratches and mottled discoloration. Hilt has some loss to gold plating, and one of the eye inserts is missing on knuckle guard creature.
