Single shot falling block action rifle featuring the long operating lever standard to the Mark IV model. Right receiver is struck with a royal cipher reading {Crown/V.R./ENFIELD/1887./Crown/Arrow} followed by the Model marking IV./I. The barrel and receiver left show standard British Army firing proofs along with the {Broad Arrow} marking. Stock stamps from original manufacture are faint due to refinishing. Left barrel is marked NEP. NS, indicating the rifle transferred to Nepalese service. Stock further shows Nepalese markings near the buttplate on the right. Comes with cleaning rod and a reproduction sling.
This lot is located in Cincinnati.
Condition
Good. Bore is Frosty with a deep brown patina throughout and crisp rifling. Blued finish thinning overall with a deep brown patina forming in losses, and some traces of light pitting on the edges and mars on the flanks that have been filled in with blue, indicating it has been re-arsenaled at some point. Item exhibits scattered pinpoint pitting, and brown flecking. Stock shows some rounding at the edges with weak original production markings, and scattered dents and handling wear overall.
