U.S. Model 1884 Springfield Trapdoor Rifle
Indian Wars
.45-70. 32.25" barrel. SN: 398398. Blued and color casehardened finish, walnut stock. Single shot breechloading military rifle. Standard Springfield markings on lock and breech block. Low arch breech, two-piece triggerguard, grooved trigger with checkered tip, three-click tumbler, Buffington rear sight, musket front sight with pinned blade. Retains both sling swivels, the stacking swivel and the cleaning rod.
This lot is located in Cincinnati.
Condition
Good. Very good bore is mostly bright with strong rifling and some patches of darker oxidation. Barrel with some thinning blue toning to plum, lock and breech block with added blue. Markings in metal clear, none visible in wood. Mechanically functional action. Wood with moderate wear and showing numerous scattered bumps, dings and mars.
