SADAO WATANABE Japanese Mingei Art The Entry into Jerusalem Print Signed 1973
by Sadao Watanabe. The artist was born and raised in Tokyo, and was associated with the folk art movement known as "Mingei." He is most well known for his biblical scenes. This particular scene of the last supper depicts Jesus and the disciples around a table with platters of fish and bread on the table. There are tones of dark red, yellow, green, blue, and black used throughout the print. IT is printed on what appears to be a textured, hand made paper. It is number 61 out of a run of 70. It is signed by the artist in the lower right hand corner, and date 1972. The piece is framed in a black frame with a mustard
