American sportsman Briggs Cunningham accomplishments were many. He captained successful America's Cup yachts and designed his own sports-and-racing car known as the "Cunningham". In the 1950s, Briggs was a dominant figure in sports car racing across America.
A wooden panel has been replaced, but it has no bearing on the trophy itself.
