Pre-64 Winchester Model 70 bolt action rifle, .270 Winchester cal., 24" barrel, blue finish, checkered walnut one-piece pistol grip stock with sling swivels, hooded brass tipped blade front and replacement Marbles semi-buckhorn rear sights, the bolt is etched with the matching serial number, the receiver is drilled and tapped with a set of two-piece Weaver bases, clear factory markings with sharp Winchester "WP" proofs on the barrel and front ring. Mfg in 1954, the rifle is in fine overall condition, retaining 70-80% thinning finish with wear at the muzzle, scratches, scrapes and a spot of pin prick pitting on the right side of barrel. The stock is near fine with indentations, scrapes and bruises consistent with years of field use. The butt ends with a correct checkered steel butt plate with widow's peak, providing a 13 5/8" Length of Pull. The bore is very good with well-defined rifling and the action is smooth.
