Scarce high grade W.W. Greener SxS pinfire shotgun, 12 gauge, 26" London laminated steel barrels, color case hardened engraved receiver, sculpted fences, finely checkered walnut two-piece straight grip stock, splinter fore end with cross pin fasteners, extended lower tang, damaged blank round escutcheon plate in the buttstock, brass bead front sight (reduced) and double triggers, clear factory markings, marked "W.W. GREENER. No. 48 DUKE St. St. JAME'S, LONDON.LAMINATED STEEL INDESTRUCTIBLE BY GUNPOWDER." The shotgun is in antique near excellent overall condition, with the barrels displaying attractive figure and finish, there is light surface rust on the underside of the barrels along the rib at the muzzles. The receiver and tang shows darkened muted smoky gray color case hardened finish drifting to darker patina with 50-60% coverage in outstanding foliate engraving. The stock is fine with indentations, chips and smoothing of checkering, primarily on the fore end. The fore end shows chips along the barrels on both sides, worse on the left side. The buttstock displays attractive figure with a lightly engraved steel buttplate with widow's peak at the top, providing a 14.25" LOP. The action functions well and locks up securely. The bores are near excellent. This is an extraordinary example of a rare firearm by a famous London gunmaker.
