Outstanding Cogswell & Harrison Huntic SxS Sidelock shotgun, 12 gauge, 30" sunken game rib barrels, blue and color case hardened finish, finely checkered walnut two-piece straight grip stock, slender fore end with Anson style push button release, blank round escutcheon plate in the buttstock, double triggers, auto-safety at tang, auto-ejectors, brass bead front sight, clear factory markings, with the barrel address; "COGSWELL & HARRISON LTD. HUNTIC 168 PICCADILLY. LONDON." The lot includes a modern leather luggage case with canvas cover. The case is lined with maroon baize material and includes tools, silver oiler, lubricant and hardwood cleaning rod. The case is in excellent overall condition with a reproduction Cogswell & Harrison label in the lid. The shotgun is in excellent overall condition as refinished, retaining 98-99% rust blue finish on the barrels with only minor marks. The receiver displays 70-80% vivid color case hardened finish with fine foliate engraving covering 50-60%, marked for French export "FABRIQUE EN ANGLETERRE / COGSWELL & HARRISON LTD." On the left side of the receiver. "SAFE" is marked in gold at the tang. The stock is near excellent with minor indentations, scuffs and handling marks. The ribbed butt provides a 14.75" LOP. The action functions well and locks up securely. The bores are near excellent and show little use. This is a top quality Cogswell & Harrison that was marked for French export.
