Beautiful German Merkel Model 140A box lock SxS double rifle, as new, in a Galazan luggage case. 23.5" Krupp steel marked barrels, full-length filed solid rib with a ramped blade front and fixed square notch rear sights, blue finish on the barrels and color case hardened receiver, double triggers, tang mounted safety, Greener cross bolt safety, extractors and sling swivels. The rifle shows little use. The receiver displays vivid color case hardening with light scroll engraving and engraved screw heads. The finely checkered Turkish walnut two-piece pistol grip stock is excellent with a color case hardened Deeley release on the fore end, black plastic grip cap, European hogback butt with a pancake cheek piece. The butt ends with a solid rubber Decelerator pad providing a 15" LOP to the front trigger. The bores are minty bright and the action is crisp, locking up bank vault tight. The lot includes a Galazan canvas and leather luggage case in excellent condition. (Modern/PPT)
