Colt Model 1878 exposed hammer SxS shotgun, 12 gauge, 30" Damascus steel solid rib barrels, lightly engraved color case hardened receiver, Hartford barrel address, brass bead front sight, checkered walnut two-piece round knob pistol grip stock, splinter fore end with Deeley style release lever and blank round escutcheon plate in the butt stock. Mfg in 1880, the shotgun is in very good overall condition, with the damascene pattern barrels fading and approx 40-50% case color retained on the receiver. The receiver shows 40-50% coverage in fine scroll engraving. Double triggers with an engraved trigger guard. The stock is very good with nice checkering and attractive figure in the butt stock. The butt ends with an original checkered hard rubber Colt marked butt plate in near fine condition, providing a 14.5" LOP. The action functions well and the bores are good with some light pitting in both chambers. A scarce original Colt that hasn't been messed with. (Antique/Pre-98).
