GLADYS WILSON McADAMS, (Kentucky, 1889-1958), Oil/Canvas, WINTER TWILIGHT, 25 inches x 30 inches, framed in wood under glass, 30 ½ inches x 35 ½ inches overall. Signed GLADYS McADAMS lower right; also titled, signed & dated verso, WINTER TWILIGHT by Gladys W. McAdams—Feb., 1940; an excellent example of the artist’s mid-western American Scene paintings. She studied at the Univ. of Kentucky, Art Students League NYC & the Art Institute of Chicago, with George Bellows, A. V. Tack, Eugene Speicher, Henry Snell, etc. She exhibited extensively at the Southern States Art League, & also at the Chicago Art Institute, National Academy of Design, Society of Wash. DC Artists, Cincinnati Art Museum & the Toledo Museum of Art. Condition: Excellent original state, with NO damage, repairs or in-painting; this painting has always been framed under glass in the original carved gilt wood frame. Provenance: purchased at auction from the estates of Dr. Lillian Eichelberger Cannon & Dr. Marietta Eichelberger, sold June, 1997 at & for the benefit of the Mississippi University for Women, Columbus, MS.
