The Call" by John Hersey, published published by Franklin Library in 1985. Limited First Edition, First Printing signed by author on front page, privately printed exclusively for members of The Signed First Edition Society with a special message from author. Dark indigo leather with raised bands on spine, gilt designs on both front and rear panels and all edges gilt and attached ribbon bookmark. Book is in very good condition with little to no wear to pages, spine also in good condition. "A portrait of life in China as seen by an American missionary from 1906 until the 1950s. John Hersey was the son of a China missionary and probes deeply and seriously into the life, times, and mind of a China missionary.
