1854; Original, Overall Height including back splash 50.75" h x 57" w x 23" d, back splash measures 7.75" height, legs measure 7.75" height, Beautiful North Carolina Walnut Primary with beautiful NC yellow Southern Pine Secondary. Dovetailed with mortise and tenon construction throughout. Very Rare and Important, Signed and Dated by a documented Wake County, NC furniture maker/Cabinetmaker/joiner. This newly discovered example of NC decorative arts, is totally original. Gallery back splash is in a federal style. Three upper drawers that are 15.7/8" by 5.1/8", with three blind hinged doors below measuring 24.1/8" x 15.7/8", Supported by two turned front legs and two tapered back legs. Has single panel ends. Outer doors have open interior. Center door has original shelf. Doors are complete with original hinges, locks, and two original wooden pulls. Upper drawers have all three original wooden pulls. Back of sideboard is completely original, complete with all nails and original boards and also signed in black paint #5 W. B. Hartsow, Durham NC. Discovered by our photographer, under center drawer on dust board, written in pencil "Made Fred Lilley & Son for (name is illegible) 1854". After close inspection of this example, it appears to have original surface finish, no restoration, structurally sound, front left turned leg has minor loss on backside. Overall, outstanding unaltered original NC Dining Room Sideboard. Recently discovered in the Triangle area by Jay Shambley.
