“Male Salesman on Ladder in Red and White Visor” Marshall Field’s Animatronic Christmas Window Display Figure. Chicago: Marshall Field’s, 1982. Victorian-era large painted plaster figure (“Store Interior; Figure III”) of an older man on a ladder waving an item (it was a small doll, missing) in his right hand (hand is missing); brown shoes, brown checked trousers, gray vest, blue striped shirt, bowtie, glasses. On wooden base with motor and plug. 68” high. Motor works, figure’s head nods, and his right arm moves. Minor wear. Very good. From the collection of the Museum of Science and Industry Chicago. This, and the other Marshall Field's Christmas Window display lots were created by Virginia Paxson in collaboration with the legendary New York design/fabrication firm, Spaeth Design.
