[GRATEFUL DEAD]. STANLEY, Owsley “Bear” (American, 1935-2011). Steal Your Face Belt Buckle. 1983. Bronze belt buckle with the Grateful Dead “Steal Your Face / Stealie / SYF” logo. Signed by Stanley and dated verso. Good bronze shine and black patina. Very good. From the Joseph Scovel Grateful Dead Collection. Stanley was the Grateful Dead’s sound engineer, known for the “Wall of Sound” sound reinforcement system. He was also the first known private individual to manufacture mass quantities of LSD; by his own account he made over five million does between 1965 - 1967.
