A Junkun Axe with Incised Figural designs
A Hand forged Iron and wood ceremonial Axe, sometimes referred to as a Ring axe and presumably from the Upper Benue River region, Nigeria, Africa. The Wooden handle has inscribed anthropomorphic stick figures and designs, on handle and blade, showing field use and wear. The Axe measures 21.25 x 8.25 inches. Provenance: Ex Dr Brian Healy Estate, New York.
