A Large Lobi Bateba Shrine Idol Ex Banks Collection
A Bold and dramatic female bateba Thil or spirit idol with a wonderful stylized face, carved eyes, flat top , arched back pose which gives the impression the idol is looking to the heavens. The figure is well weathered and has remnants of mineral pigments or offerings. Lobi peoples, Burkina faso, Africa. The figure measures 22.5 inches, 25.5 inches on professional display stand.
