Early Colt Model 1883 Hammerless SxS shotgun, 12 gauge, 30" Damascus Steel solid rib barrels choked IC/Imp Mod, checkered walnut two-piece pistol grip stock with a splinter fore end and half round knob pistol grip, brass bead front sight, double triggers, tang safety, legible factory markings. Mfg in 1883, the shotgun is in good overall condition, showing attractive damascene pattern barrels, with scrapes, scratches and wear at the muzzles. The receiver has gone to silver with border engraving and engraved screw heads. The receiver shows edge wear and scattered spots of light corrosion. The stock is in good condition with indentations, nicks and scratches. The checkering shows flattening in areas. The splinter fore end is secured by a Deeley style release lever. The butt ends with the original checkered hard rubber Colt butt plate, providing a 14.25" LOP. The bores are good, the action functions well and locks up securely on this scarce, early two-digit Colt. (Antique/Pre-98).
