“Salvation Army Man with Coat and Cape, Hat and Trumpet” Ma
“Salvation Army Man with Coat and Cape, Hat and Trumpet” Marshall Field’s Animatronic Christmas Window Display Figure. Chicago: Marshall Field’s, 1982. Victorian-era large painted plaster figure (“Under the Clock; Figure III”) of a male Salvation Army volunteer with full-length coat with cape, black boots, Salvation Army hat and trumpet. On wooden base with motor and power cord (plug is missing). 42” high. Motor untested. Minor wear to figure’s mouth, right hand and trumpet mouth piece. Very good. From the collection of the Museum of Science and Industry Chicago. This, and the other Marshall Field's Christmas Window display lots were created by Virginia Paxson in collaboration with the legendary New York design/fabrication firm, Spaeth Design.
