“Dandy in Coat, Paisley Waistcoat, and Top Hat” Marshall Field’s Animatronic Christmas Window Display Figure. Chicago: Marshall Field’s, 1982. Victorian-era large painted plaster figure (“Store Interior; Figure IV”) of a handsome man with mustache and goatee, black shoes, brown check trousers, ¾ length brown jacket, white shirt, ascot, and top hat. On wooden base with motor and plug. 42” high. Motor works, and figure’s left arm moves back and forth. Minor wear. Fine. From the collection of the Museum of Science and Industry Chicago. This, and the other Marshall Field's Christmas Window display lots were created by Virginia Paxson in collaboration with the legendary New York design/fabrication firm, Spaeth Design.
