Antique Gewehr 88 Rifle
7.92x57mm. 29.1" barrel length. SN: 3514c. Blued metal finish with polished bolt in Walnut straight wrist stock with no upper handguard and featuring a full length barrel shroud. Bolt-action internal magazine fed repeating rifle charged with Mannlicher style en-bloc clips, and mounting adjustable ladder rear notch and front blade sights. Receiver is marked LOEWE BERLIN/1891, indicating it was made by Ludwig Loewe in 1891, before that company became part of Deutsche Waffen-und Munitionsfabriken. Receiver shows model marking Gew. 88 with the receiver further marked S, indicating its sights were updated for the later Spitzer projectile. Serial numbers do not match. Comes with a cleaning rod and a leather sling.

Condition
Very Good. Bore is Very Bright with crisp rifling throughout. Metal finish shows some traces of blue along the seams of the stock but is primarily brown patina overall. Barrel shroud shows some pitting to the seam of the stock just behind the barrel band. Buttplate fits proud of the stock, indicating the latter has been sanded. Stock shows some scratches and light dents overall. Sling displays some cracking and abrasions.
